SBA announced tribal consultations in Albuquerque, NM, and Oklahoma City, OK, on Thursday, June 7, and Friday June 8, 2018, respectively. Native American Contractors’ Association (NACA), National Congress of American Indians-ED (NCAI-ED), and Outlook Law are working together for a preparation session for the tribal consultations at these locations as well as prior to the consultations.
NACA and Outlook Law developed in-depth comments, attended the earlier consultations, and will be holding a preparation session for these as well as attending. NCAI-ED will also be co-hosting these upcoming prepatory sessions. These sessions will be TBD. In addition to the in-depth comments, NCAI-ED made the well-placed suggestions that an overview or guide to the in-depth comments should be developed; so look for that. Generally, there is a two week submission time for comments after the consultations, so knowing what was said, the response given, and potential approaches can be invaluable in this experience. Everyone is welcome to join the preparation session and information for in-person and call in attendance will be forthcoming.
