SBA Extends Comments on the Size Standards Rule and Methodology to November 20
On its public inspection document in the Federal Register, SBA has extended the comment period on its proposed size standards rule and its revised size standards methodology. Comments are now due November 20, 2026. The official Federal Register publication is scheduled for this Wednesday.
SBA filed the extension with the Federal Register for public inspection at 6:00 p.m. on September 21, 2026, the day comments were set to close. It is effective as of filing. It is scheduled to publish in the Federal Register on September 24.

It adds 60 days to both dockets. The proposed rule is Docket No. SBA-2026-0199. The methodology is Docket No. SBA-2026-0265.
The full comment period now runs 92 days, from August 20 to November 20.
SBA gives two reasons: “requests for additional time to comment,” and “SBA’s clarification of the impacts of SBA’s proposed changes.” The notice does not say what that clarification was or where SBA published the impacts as it certified no RFA analysis was done.
